Scranton, PA – Cabrini College scored two first half goals in Saturday's Colonial State Athletic Conference men's soccer game at Marywood University and made it stand for a 2-0 victory in the regular season finale for both teams. With the win, the Cavaliers secured the third seed in the upcoming CSAC playoffs and improve to 8-9-1 on the season and 6-2-1 in conference play. The Pacers, already assured the second seed, sees their record drops to 13-5 (7-2 CSAC).

Cabrini struck first in the 17th minute when C.J. Doherty slipped a thru-ball behind Marywood's defense that Eric Collins ran onto and scored to give the visitors the early advantage. Taylor Scarpino doubled the Cavaliers' lead in the 28th minute, pushing home a rebound opportunity from close range. Neither team was able to find the back of the net the rest of the way as the defending conference champions locked up the third seed and will host a first round game on Tuesday.

Marywood generated several dangerous chances throughout the game, out-shooting the Cavaliers 11-8 for the game, but Cabrini goalkeeper Eric Nowicki was solid, making eights saves to earn the shutout victory.

Matt
Roman (Williamsport, PA) made his first start of the season between Marywood's pipes and made two saves in the first half. Shane Quinn (Clarks Summit, PA) played the final 45 minutes in the Pacers' net goal and made one save.

Marywood seniors Greg Dustin, William Gordon, Joshua Hicks, Sean O'Day, Mike Pilla, Lee Powers, Chris Rodzewich, and Brian Wasser were honored at halftime of Saturday's game.

The Pacers will host a CSAC Semifinal on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Scranton. The Pacers will take on the lowest remaining seed from Tuesday's first round match-ups.
