Wilkes-Barre, PA - King's College cruised past Marywood but the Pacers battled tough with Juniata College as Marywood dropped their season opening meets Saturday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre.  Host King's beat Marywood 62-33.  The Pacers, competing in their first NCAA competition, battled tough and fell to Juniata 49-45 to start the season 0-2.

Katie Paterson (Clarks Summit, PA) was a two-time winner on the day to lead Marywood.  Paterson won the 1,000 yard freestyle in a time of 11:19.53 and later won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:34.75.  Alyssa Desiderio (Warrington, PA) was second in the 50 yard freestyle, touching in a time of 28.63, just .36 behind Caitlin Casey from King's. 

The Marywood team of Paterson, Brianna Muller (Pequannock, NJ), Kaylin Kirk (Mechanicsburg, PA) and Vanessa Szilagyi (Bloomsburg, PA) finished second in the 200 yard freestyle relay with splits of 27.38, 34.45, 33.00 and 30.27, respectively.  Marywood also finished second in the 200 yard medley relay as Amy Mikolaichik (Harding, PA), Desiderio, Julie Massa (Howell, NJ) and Keri Bensley (Matamoras, PA) finished in 2:19.02.

Marywood returns to action November 9 at Misericordia University.
