Scranton, PA – Marywood University's volleyball team dropped its opening match to Cabrini College before rebounding for 3-0 wins over both Rosemont College and Keystone College in a Colonial States Athletic College quad match hosted by the Pacers on Saturday. Marywood's record now stands at 10-6 overall and 3-2 in CSAC play.
Marywood fell to Cabrini in straight sets in Saturday's opener as the Cavaliers got wins of 26-24, 25-21, and 25-20 to claim the match. Stephanie Recklau led Cabrini's attack with 21 kills and Alaina Clark added 31 assists in the victory. Marywood was paced by Emily Fillman's (Clarion, PA) seven kills while getting 15 assists from Alyssa Hartranft (Mountain Top, PA) and 26 digs from Rachel Tollett (Elkins Park, PA).
The Pacers would respond with a convincing win over Rosemont in their second match of the day, scoring wins of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-6. Marywood recorded 23 kills among nine players. Leanne Feeney (Wappinger Falls, NY) handed out a team-best 18 assists, Tollett picked up nine digs, and Ashley Cavellier (Homer, NY) recorded a season-high seven service aces in the victory.
In Saturday's finale, Marywood again recorded a 3-0 win, claiming decisions of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-11 to notch their 10th victory of the season. Fillman led the Pacers with 10 kills, one more than teammate Erica Krakosky (Forty Fort, PA). Hartranft dished out a game-high 36 assists and Tollett again led the squad with 10 digs. Kim Lope (Clifton, NJ) and Amanda Boyance (Staten Island, NY) combined for five blocked shots in the match.
Marywood will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Hackettstown, NJ to take on Centenary College in a CSAC match scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
