Scranton, PA – Fourth-seeded Marywood University topped visiting Philadelphia Biblical University 3-1 in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball playoffs on Tuesday evening in Scranton. The Pacers, now 16-8 on the season, advance to the CSAC Semifinals where they were face top-seed Cabrini College on Thursday.
Marywood won the first two games of Tuesday night's match up by scores of 25-21 and 25-20 before Philadelphia Biblical cut their deficit to two games to won with a 25-21 decision in the third set. The Pacers would secure the victory with a tight, 25-23 triumph in the fourth frame though for their 16th win of the season, the most by a Marywood team since 2003.
The Pacers attack was led by Megan Shilling's (Ringtown, PA) seven kills while Erica Krakosky (Forty Fort, PA) and Emily Fillman (Clarion, PA) added six apiece. Alyssa Hartranft (Mountain Top, PA) led the team with 22 assists and two service aces while Rachel Tollett (Elkins Park, PA) contributed 31 digs. Hartranft collected 22 digs while and Fillman added 20 digs and two service aces in the victory.
Marywood will take on top-seeded Cabrini on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in Radnor. The Cavaliers, who are 21-7 on the season, defeated the Pacers in three sets on October 9th in Scranton.
