Aston, PA - Playing for their first ever Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship and a berth into the NCAA Division III national tournament, Marywood University battled top seed Neumann University to a 0-0 double-overtime tie but the hosts edged Marywood 6-5 in the third round of sudden death penalty kicks to garner the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Neumann had an early advantage in the game on the second seeded Pacers offensively but the Pacers defense buckled down and drew the Knights offsides five times to keep the game deadlocked at 0-0 entering haltime.  Late in the second half, Marywood pressured the Neumann back line but could not find the back of the net either.  Neumann would out-shoot Marywood 17-12 in regulation but in overtime Marywood would out-shoot the hosts 5-0.  However, both Marywood's Shane Quinn (Clarks Summit, PA) and Neumann's Bob Mastrillo both had solid games in goals to force penalty kicks.

First team All-CSAC selections Ryan Jones (Holland, PA), Brett Megee (Easton, PA) and Christian Lawlor (Hillsdale, NJ) all buried their PK attempts for Marywood as the trio were the first three Pacers to go.  Quinn saved a shot by Neumann's third shooter, but Mastrillo followed by stoning Marywood's fourth shot.  Quinnn, who was spectacular all afternoon and notched his seventh solo shutout of the season, made a fantastic save on Neumann's fourth attempt, but Marwyood missed their fifth shot and  the Knights sent the contest onto to sudden death PKs on a make by Zach Sell on the host's fifth shot.

In sudden death, Marywood and Neumann both made their first two attempts but Mastrillo saved the Pacers' third shot.  As the 16th shooter and 8th for his team, Evan Morgan buried his penalty kick for Neumann to punch the Knight's ticket to the NCAA tournament.

Neumann (14-3-2) will learn their NCAA tournament destination Monday at 2:00 pm when the NCAA announces selections over a webcast.  Marywood (14-5-1) will await word on a possible berth into the ECAC tournament. The Pacers, playing for the conference title for the first time in the program's 14-year history, claimed their first runner-up trophy.
