Scranton, PA - Marywood University's Lenny Martin scored 16 points, grabbed a game-high 15 boards and added eight assists to lead Marywood University to a 76-68 win over visiting Misericordia University Saturday afternoon at Marywood's Insalaco Arena. The game, which was close throughout, was broadcast live on WQMY-TV and will be rebroadcast Sunday at 12:30 pm. Four of Marywood's five starters finished in double-figures while key reserve John Foreman also got in double digits as Marywood improved to 5-2 on the year.

Marywood would build a early 14-9 lead over the course of the first eight minutes of play but after a television timeout both teams had trouble finding the basket. After four scoreless minutes, the Cougars would go on a 6-0 run to take a 15-14 lead. From there, the teams would trade baskets for much of the first half with Misericordia going into the locker room with a slim 28-25 lead, thanks in part to 8 second chance points.

A three-pointer by Marywood's Brent Keyes (Susquehanna, PA) would knot the game at 38-38 with just under 14 minutes left, but Misericordia later answered on a Frank Nutt three to tie the game at 45-45 with 11:58 to play. Down 56-53, Marywood would go on a 7-0 run highlighted by a Tyler Reinhard (Highland, NJ) three at 4:46 to reclaim a lead they would not relinquish.

Misericordia got back to within two when Ethan Eichhorst scored two of his game-high 24 points on a layup, but Keyes would drain another three to extend Marywood's lead back to five. Eichhorst would again get the Cougars close with another layup with 2:13 left to make it 66-64 in favor of Marywood but the Pacers connected on five of their final seven free throws to keep the visitors at bay.

Eichhorst's 24 points came on 10 of 19 shooting from the floor. The junior from Drums added seven rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Senior Robbie Johnson (Jackson, PA) was strong as well, connecting on 9 of 18 shots for 19 points. Sean Bieski (Nanticoke, PA) added a team-high 10 rebounds.

Keyes led the Pacers with 21 points on 8 of 10 shooting from the floor and was 3 of 4 from behind the arc. Reinhard finished with 16 on 5 of 10 shooting from three-point land and John Foreman added 11 on 5 of 10 shooting. James Lavan scored 10 points thanks in large part to 7 of 10 shooting from the charity stripe.

Marywood returns to action after the Holiday break with a January 4th contest at nearby Wilkes University.
