Scranton, PA – Lebanon Valley College, currently ranked 21st in the nation, used a 17-6 run to close the first half of Thursday evening's non-conference women's basketball game at Marywood University to pull away from the Pacers on their way to a 60-49 victory. The Dutchmen improve to 8-1 on the season with the win while Marywood's record drops to 5-3.

After Marywood scored the first two points of Thursday evening's game on a Marielle Thorsen (Belvidere, NJ) layup, Lebanon Valley responded with a 10-0 run to hold an eight point lead after the first 4:20 of the contest. The Pacers cut their deficit to four points at 16-12 on a Thorsen jumper with 10:35 remaining in the half, but the Dutchmen would outscore Marywood 17-6 to close the half and hold a 33-18 lead heading into the locker room. 

Lebanon Valley shot 44.4 percent from the floor in the first half and featured a balanced attack with four players tied with six points apiece. The Dutchmen out-rebounded Marywood 26-15 in the opening half at the Pacers shot 27.6 percent from the field and were led by Thorsen's 13 points in the period.

Lebanon Valley extended their lead to 19 points early in the second half but Marywood looked to stay within striking distance and cut their deficit to 43-31 with 8:03 to play on a Thorsen jumper. The visitors used a quick, 5-0 run to stretch their lead back to 17 points. The Pacers would narrow their gap to 55-45 with 1:12 to play, but it was as close as they would come in suffering their second-straight defeat.

Five Lebanon Valley players finished in double-digits with Liz Borgia leading the way with 14 points. Andrea Hoover and Suzie Noyes each contributed 11 points while Renee Fritz and Caitlin Murphy added 10 points for the Dutchman, who shot 39 percent from the field from the game and went 14-18 from the free throw line. Fritz and Noyes each fell a rebound shy of a double-double with nine points as Lebanon Valley won the battle for the glass, 45-38.

Thorsen recorded a game-high 20 points while Allison Bruet (Binghamton, NY) added nine for Marywood, who shot 29.3 percent for the game from the floor and 75 percent from the charity stripe. Mariah Schaeffer (Bainbridge, NY) recorded a game-high four steals and a team-best six rebounds.

Marywood is back in action on Saturday when they visit Misericordia University for a non-conference game scheduled to tip-off at 1:00 p.m. in Dallas.
