Scranton, PA - Marywood University's men's basketball team completed an upset sweep of Neumann University with an  85-73 win over the Knights in CSAC men's basketball action Monday evening.  Earlier in the night, Marywood's women's team stunned Neumann, who had been previously unbeaten in conference play.  Senior Jerome Gosney led four Marywood players in double figures to help the Pacers snap a four-game skid.

Marywood (6-13, 3-10 CSAC) played strong early, building a 19-10 lead thanks to a 5-0 run over a two-minute span.  The Knights would not go away though, and eventually tied the game at 21-21 with 8:15 left in the opening half.  The two teams would trade leads the remainder of the first half with the Knights going into the break with a slim 34-31 lead.  Marywood hit just 1 of 11 three-point attempts in the opening half and was just 2 of 7 from the free-throw line.

Neumann (9-10, 7-5 CSAC) went up five to open the second half, but Marywood tied the game at 40-40 on a jumper by D.J. Strayhorn (Henryville, PA) with just under seventeen minutes to play and then went up 43-40 on a Sidney Tharpe (Victorville, CA) three-pointer just under a minute later.  The Knights would tie it up at 47-47 with a layup by Na'Sheed Linton with 13:32 remaining, but a 10-0 run started by a Strayhorn layup and then three-pointer gave the Pacers a lead they would not relinquish again.  The Knights got back to within six with just under ten to play, but Marywood stretched their lead back to a comfortable double-digit margin, going up by as many as 19, before finishing the Knighs off.

Gosney (Binghamton, NY) was solid all-around on the night.  The senior had 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor.  Gosney hit two three-pointers and had several key rebounds and added an assist, steal and block all in timely plays.  Strayhorn led the Pacers with a game-high 19 points and eight assists while Matthew Medici (Princeton Junction, NJ) had 18 on 7 of 10 shooting from the floor and Tharpe finished with 15.  Lenny Martin also had a very solid night for the Pacers, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds and adding six points and four assists.

Linton led the Knights with an 18-point effort while Ty Robinson had 14.

Marywood returns to action Thursday night when they host Centenary College at 8:00 pm.
