Scranton, PA – Marywood University completed a perfect regular season on their home court with a 63-44 win over Philadelphia Biblical University on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Pacers improve to 18-6 on the season and finish atop the CSAC North Division with a 13-3 mark in conference play. Marywood's 18 wins are the second most in school history, trailing only the 1986-87 team that went 19-8 and reached the NCAA Tournament.
Marywood built a 16-8 lead with 12:23 to play in the opening half after Marielle Thorsen (Belvidere, NJ) connected on a three-pointer and the Pacers would extend their advantage to as many as 20 points in the first half. Marywood would enjoy a 37-17 lead at the intermission after shooting 48.3 percent from the field and hitting on 4 of 8 three-point attempts.
The Pacers got nine first half points from both Thorsen and Amanda Lass (Brackney, PA). Dani Norton's six points led the Crimson Eagles in the opening twenty minutes of play, as Philadelphia Biblical shot 31.6 percent from the field.
Marywood would lead by as many as 22 points in the second half the Philadelphia Biblical was unable to cut their deficit to any less than 16 points as the Pacers cruised to their 12th win in as many games this season on their home court at the Insalaco Arena.
Thorsen finished the game with 13 points to lead Marywood while Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA) and Lauren Rogan (Archbald, PA) each added 10 points in the win.
Philadelphia Biblical was led by Norton's 16 points, while Lindsey Fornwalt finished with 12 points in the loss.
Marywood will enter the CSAC playoffs as the third seed and will host Immaculata University in the first round of the conference tournament on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Pacers beat the Mighty Macs 80-66 on November 30th in Scranton when the two teams met during the regular season.
