Box Score

Rosemont, PA - Freshman D.J. Strayhorn netted a career-high 32 points and Marywood University rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to force overtime as the Pacers defeated host Rosemont College 79-76 in overtime to pick up a key CSAC win.  The win keeps the Pacers playoff hopes alive and moves Marywood to 5-10 in conference play and 8-13 overall.  The lost dropped the host Ravens to 5-16 (3-11 CSAC) and gives the two teams a season split.

Strayhorn (Henryville, PA) netted his career-best 32 to lead all scorers and also dished out a team-high seven assists.  The freshman connected on 12 of 18 shots from the floor and was also 7 of 8 from the free-throw line.  Marywood was down ten just before halftime until Sidney Tharpe (Victorville, CA) dropped a three with just over a second remaining to bring the Pacers' deficit back to single digits, 36-29 as they headed into the lockerroom.

In the second half, Marywood would rally late and eventually out-score the hosts 39-32 to force overtime with the score knotted at 68-68.  The Pacers, who hit nearly 48% of their shots for the game, used a strong second half defensive effort to limit the hosts to just 30.8% shooting from the floor in the second frame.  The Ravens had been hot in the opening half, connecting on 41% of their shots and hitting six three-pointers.  Marywood's perimeter defense limited the hosts to just one long ball in the second half and none in overtime.

The Pacers return to action this Saturday with a trip to Radnor to take on league leading Cabrini College at 4:00 pm.  Marywood needs to win their remaining conference games and see Centenary College lose a few in order to qualify for the sixth and final playoff spot.
