Scranton, PA - T.J. Czerw hit a single to deep right center to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh and Marywood University upset 22nd-ranked Keystone College in the second game of a CSAC doubleheader by a final score of 12-11.  Marywood, who lost the opener to the Giants 15-3, held the lead for much of the game but needed some last at-bat heroics from Czerw to pick up their first conference win of the year.  The split moves Marywood to 3-9, 1-3 CSAC while the Giants, who ranked 22nd in the latest D3Baseball.com/NCBWA poll, fall to 7-3 and were handed their first conference loss (2-1 CSAC).

After routing Marywood Friday, Keystone continued to pound Marywood pitching in the opener, scoring 15 runs on 13 hits, five of which were long-balls.  Eric Groff went deep twice while teammates Ryan Smyth and Gabe Torres each homered once.  Mike Hanley got the win on the mound for Keystone in the opener, allowing just five hits and two runs on the day.

Marywood senior Ryan Cusomato (Sparta, NJ) hit his first career home-run to score Marywood's first run of the game.  Cusomato finished the opener as the only Pacer with multiple hits, going 2-3 at the plate.

In the nightcap, Marywood scored ten times in the first three innings including a five-run second, but the Pacer bats went cold over the next three innings and Keystone chipped away at Marywood's lead.  The Giants would eventually take a 11-10 lead on a solo home-run in the bottom of the sixth.

Marywood reliever John Aber (Mt. Upton, NY), who came on in relief of starter Tim Freda (Westbury, NY) allowed that solo homer but then closed the door on the Giants in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the inning, after a pop up to start the frame, Nicholas Pasqualichio (Clarks Summit, PA) beat out an infield grounder and would advance to second on a Cusomato single.  From there, Czerw (Scranton, PA) singled to deep right field, scoring Pasqualichio from second and Cusomato all the way from first.

Cusomato finished the nightcap 4-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored.  Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) was 3-4 with three RBIs.  Groff again homered for the Giants while Yazy Arbello and Donald Reese each went deep twice for Keystone.

Aber got the win on the mound after 2.2 innings of work.  Freda went 4.1 innings and allowed eight earned runs and struck out three.  Brian Stern took the loss for Keystone after four inning of relief work in which he allowed three runs (two earned) and struck out five.  Starter Mike Schwartz went 2.1 innings for the Giants, allowing nine runs, but just two earned, while striking out two.

Marywood returns to action Sunday when they host King's College in a single nine-inning game beginning at noon.
