Immaculata, PA – Marywood University allowed just one doubles point and then nine singles points en route to a 9-0 blanking of host Immaculata University in men's tennis action Saturday afternoon. The Pacers, who won by a score of 8-0 at one and two doubles and scores of 6-0, 6-0 at one, two and six singles, improve to 6-3 on the year and 2-0 in the CSAC. The Mighty Macs remain winless at 0-5 (0-1 CSAC).
The Pacers raced out to a 3-0 lead on the day after Greg Chilson and Evan Bolus teamed for an 8-0 win in the top doubles flight. They were followed by an 8-0 win from Todd Doran and Daniel Pfafman at two-doubles. Wyatt Nolan and partner Barrett Wentworth allowed just a single point at three-doubles in their 8-1 win.
In singles action, Chilson (Mountainside, NJ) improved to 3-0 at 1-singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nick Tarlecki. Bolus (Clarks Summit, PA) also blanked his opponent at 2-singles, while Nolan (Montoursville, PA) dropped Mike Hermansen by an identical score.
Doran (South Windsor, CT) handled Eric Schmidt by a score of 6-1, 6-0 at three-singles play, and Pfafman (Stratford, NJ) won at four-singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2. The closest match of the day was a 6-3, 6-3 victory for Marywood's Bao Nguyen (Scranton, PA) at five singles.
Marywood returns to the courts Sunday against King's College. The Pacers and Monarchs will do battle at 1:00 pm at Kirby Park in Edwardsville.
