Box Score

Scranton, PA – Cabrini College built a 7-0 lead over the first 23 and a half minutes of Saturday afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse game at Marywood University and held on for a 16-10 victory. The Cavaliers, who snapped the Pacers' five-game winning streak, improve to 4-4 on the season and 3-0 in the CSAC while Marywood sees its record slide to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Cabrini's Erin Nollen got the Cavaliers on the board at the 27:49 mark of the first half, starting a string of seven-straight goals for the defending conference champions. Amanda Alexandrowicz, Danielle Rothermel, and Gabrielle Gorbey each scored for the Cavaliers during the run while Nollen and Jamie O'Hanlon each netted a pair.

Taylor McKeown (Nashua, NH) scored for Marywood with 4:27 to play in the opening stanza, but Nollen would complete her hat-trick just 22 seconds later to stretch Cabrini's lead to 8-1. McKeown found the back of the net again at the 3:17 and Allie Sodl (Coplay, PA) followed with a pair of goals to cut Marywood's deficit to 8-4 heading into halftime.

Marywood would climb back to within two goals early in the second half as Kelly Kryspin (Hopatcong, NJ) and Sodl both scored in the opening three minutes. Cabrini would answer with four of the next five goals to hold a 12-7 lead when Alexandrowicz scored with 19:02 to play.

The Pacers would counter with a pair of McKeown goals and one from Sodl to cut their deficit to 12-10 with 13:25, but that would be mark the last time Marywood would beat Cabrini goalie Kate Schmid as the Cavaliers scored the game's final four goals to seal the win.

Cabrini held a 45-25 advantage in shots for the game and also won the groundball battle by a 37-21 margin. Nollen finished with a game nine points on eight goals and one assist while Schmid made 10 saves to pick up the win for the Cavaliers.

McKeown and Sodl each finished with five-point efforts as McKeown netted five goals and Sodl finished with four goals and one assist. Alexis Willey (Hummelstown, PA) was the only other Pacer with multiple points after assisting on two goals. Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) registered a season-high 22 saves in a losing effort.

Marywood will enjoy more than a week off before returning to action on April 8th with a CSAC contest at Gwynedd-Mercy. Opening draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
