Scranton, PA - Keystone College held off a Marywood rally in the bottom of the seventh of the opening game to take home a 4-3 win but Marywood topped the visitors 12-2 in the nightcap as the Pacers and Giants split a Colonial States Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Sunday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood moves to 6-12 (3-3 CSAC) on the year while the Giants moved to 3-1 in conference play and 6-9-1 overall.

In the opener, Marywood had a 2-0 lead until Keystone scored three times in the fifth to take the lead. The Giants then held off an attempted rally by Marywood in the seventh by allowing just one run after Marywood loaded the bases with no outs.  Tara Diesel got the win on the mound for Keystone after a complete-game three hitter.  Diesel struck out six batters and allowed only singles.

Marywood's Kaitlyn Jones (Berwick, PA) took the loss after allowing four runs on ten hits.  Kim Flanagan (Monroe, NY) picked up the lone RBI of the opener for Marywood, while the Giants were led by Samantha Hartman and Katie Butzer who each went 2-4.

In the nightcap, Marywood plated seven in the first and five in the fourth to force the game to end after five due to the eight-run rule.  Kaitlyn Brennan (Taylor, PA) picked up her first win of the season after allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two.  Meagan Cunningham took the loss after 3.1 innings of work.  Cunningham allowed 11 runs on 12 hits.  Carissa Iyoob pitchied two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Butzer again had two hits for the Giants, while Marywood was led by Jillian Flanagan (Monroe, NY) who went 2-3 with a triple and four RBI.

Marywood is off until April 5 when they take on Gwynedd-Mercy College in CSAC action in Gwynedd Valley.
