Orlando, FL – The freshman doubles-team of Ethan Jones and Todd Doran battled back from and early 3-0 deficit to take eight of the next nine points and claim a 8-4 win at #3 doubles to help lift Marywood to a 5-4 win over Alma College Thursday afternoon in Orlando, Florida.  The win snaps a two game skid for the Pacers and is their first of the spring, moving them to 3-2 overall on the year.  Alma (Michigan) slipped to 4-4 with the loss.

Marywood edged out Alma 8-6 in one-doubles as Evan Bolus and Greg Chilson topped Kace Lovejoy and Zach Kerr.  Alma evened the match at 1-1 with a 8-5 victory from Rob VanDorin and Ben Schippers at two-doubles.  Marywood, who had not one a doubles-match in their past two outings, then got a key win from Doran and Jones at three-doubles after the duo battled back from an early 3-0 deficit to win, 8-4.

Lovejoy would then even the match at 2-2 with a tight 6-4, 7-5 win over Bolus (Clarks Summit, PA) at one-singles.  Chilson (Mountainside, NJ), Pfafman and Doran (South Windsor, CT) then gave Marywood the necessary five points for a win by sweeping victories at two through four singles, respectively.  Pfafman (Stratford, NJ) defeated VanDorin 6-0 in the opening set but won a tight second set 7-6 after an 11-9 tiebreaker.

Marywood closes out their spring break trip to Florida tomorrow at 1:00 pm with a match against Ohio Northern University.
