Bridgewater Deals Pacers First Loss of Season

Bridgewater, VA – Playing their second game in as many days to close out their spring break trip through Virginia, Marywood University's women's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season, 17-8, to Bridgewater College in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Eagles improve to 3-1 on the young season while the Pacers see their record drop to 2-1.
 
Bridgewater built a 4-0 lead over the first 7:40 of Thursday's contest before Allie Sodl (Coplay, PA), Taylor McKeown (Nashua, NH), and Jennifer Silvestri (Warwick, NY) each scored with a span of 2:22 to cut the Pacers' deficit to 4-3. After the Eagles' Leslie Crawford scored to put the hosts back up by two, McKeown and Kelly Kuzicki (Vernon, NJ) each scored to bring the score to 6-5 in favor of Bridgewater with 2:36 to play in the opening half, but the Eagles would score the last three goals of the half to hold a 9-5 advantage after the first 30 minutes of play.
 
Coming out of the intermission, Bridgewater would score five unanswered goals over the first 16:50 to build a comfortable 14-5 lead. Sodl, Kuzicki, and Kelly Kryspin (Hopatcong, NJ) to cut Marywood's deficit to six goals, but the Eagles would tack on the final three goals of the contest to close out the scoring.
 
Kuzicki, McKeown, and Sodl each finished with two goals apiece to lead Marywood's attack. Sodl also collected a game-high seven groundballs in the loss for the Pacers, who were outshot 46-20 by the Eagles. Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) made 18 saves for Marywood.
 
Bridgewater's Erin Cartwright led all scorers with six points on a goal and five assists. Crawford finished with four goals and one helper while Mary Robinson added three tallies for the Eagles, who got nine saves from Colleen Schwind.
 
Marywood will be idle until Sunday, March 14th when they take on Elmira College in a non-conference game to be played at Elmira Free Academy. The opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
