Scranton, PA - Jason Bugno went 4-5 and finished just a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle and pitcher Tim Freda went seven strong innings without allowing an earned run as Marywood beat Immaculata University 13-4 in CSAC baseball action Saturday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers, who are now 10-12 and 5-2 in conference play, also got a four-hit performance from Nicholas Pasqualichio to tie a school record.  The Mighty Macs fell to 8-12 (3-4 CSAC) with the loss.

Playing as the away team, Marywood got on the board with a three-run second after Bugno (Clarks Summit, PA) led off with a triple to open the inning.  Bugno would cross home plate on a sacrifice bunt by Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) to put Marywood up 1-0.  The Pacers then plated two runs with two outs as David Lewis (Scranton, PA) scored on a Joe Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA) single to left and Joseph Valvano (Katonah, NY) scored from second on a failed pickoff attempt and ensuing error at first base.

Marywood would gain another run in the top of the third on a Castellano RBI double to right center, but the Mighty Macs knotted the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the frame on four unearned runs.  The Pacers, however, would add three more runs over the next two innings and use a four-run seventh to break the game open.

Bugno finished the day with two singles, a double and a triple to go along with one RBI and four runs scored.  Pasqualichio's four-single day at the plate was part of a 4-5 effort and Castellano went 2-3 with three RBI.

Freda (Westbury, NY) improved to 4-1 on the year after allowing seven hits in seven innings of work.  Despite allowing four runs, none were earned.  Freda sat down 10 Mighty Mac batters on the afternoon.  Josh Plisko (Moosic, PA) pitched two scoreless innings in relief and allowed just one hit.

Ernell Harley Jr. dropped his first decision of the year for Immaculata on the mound after allowing nine earned runs (10 total) on fifteen Marywood hits over seven innings.  David News was 3-4 at the plate for the Mighty Macs while Brandon Seibert and Richard Cusic each had two RBIs.

Marywood and Immaculata will return to the Pacers' home field Sunday at noon to close out their three-game regular season meeting with a 12:00 noon twin-bill.
