Scranton, PA - Marywood University scored 12 runs on 12 hits in the opener to claim a 12-2 win over Immaculata but the Mighty Macs rallied for a 7-3 win in the nightcap as the two teams split a CSAC baseball doubleheader Sunday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood now stands at 11-13 overall and 6-3 in league play while Immaculata moves to 9-13, 4-5 CSAC.

Mike Siciliano (Whippany Park, NJ) had a solid pitching outing in the opener, striking out eight while allowing just two runs on five hits in a complete-game performance.  Siciliano picked up his second win of the season to move to 2-1 on the mound.  With the score tied 1-1, Marywood used a nine-run fifth to open up the game.  Joseph Valvano (Katonah, NY) hit his first career homerun to close out the scoring in that inning.

Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) finished the opener 3-3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored for Marywood, while Valvano also had 3 RBI and was 2-4 on the day with a homer and a double.  David News hit a double and a triple for Immaculata, while Andrew Dietrich took the loss on the mound after allowing just two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Immaculata rebounded in the nightcap as Dietrich's brother Aaron took the mound and picked up his third win of the year after allowing three runs on seven hits over seven innings of work as the Mighty Macs salvaged a split on the day with a 7-3 win.  Dietrich struck out five Pacers in the nightcap.  News. Brandon Seibert and Richard Cusic led the Immaculata offense with two hits apiece with Cusic knocking in two runs on the day. 

Shane Miller (Scranton, PA) was 2-3 at the plate for Marywood as was Ryan Cusomato (Sparta, NJ).  Jeff Cleary took the loss for the Pacers after allowing three earned runs on ten hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Marywood will return to the diamond on Tuesday when they host Wilkes University in a nine-inning non-conference game at 4:00 pm.
