Scranton, PA - Marywood University rallied from a 3-0 deficit with a five run fifth only to see their lead slip away as the visiting Colonels plated four in the seventh and held on for a 7-5 win over the Pacers Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action.  The win is Wilkes' ninth of the year while Marywood slips to 11-14.

Wilkes (9-13) got on the board first after a three-run homer from Matt Ruch.  Randy Dengler then doubled down the left-field line but Marywood starting pitcher Rick Clifford (Scranton, PA) got a grounder back to the mound to end the inning.

The Pacers rallied in the home half of the sixth as Nicholas Pasqualichio (Clarks Summit, PA) doubled down the left field line to start the inning.  After a walk and an error which scored Pasqualichio, Jason Bugno (Clarks Summit, PA) singled to score Ryan Cusomato (Sparta, NJ).  Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) then singled to score T.J. Czerw (Scranton, PA), and with two outs Mike Pinelli (Bristol, PA) singled in Castellano.

The Colonels would respond immediately though, as they scored the tying and go ahead runs in the top of the seventh.  After two walks and a wild pitch by Marywood reliever Alex Magid (South Salem, NY), the Colonels would climb back to within one on a free pass to make it 5-4.  A fielder's choice RBI would then knot the game at 5-5, Wilkes would take the lead as Scott Skammer grounded out to second but plated Angus Neary scored.  The visitors would then get the final run of the game on an Rich Cosgrove RBI single to left center.

Zach Lazar got the win for Wilkes after pitching five innings of relief work.  The freshman hurler struck out five and allowed just one earned run (five total) on five hits.  Mike Brennan picked up the save with a scoreless ninth.

Magid took the loss on the mound for Marywood, who got two hits from Castellano on the day.  For Wilkes, Ruch finished the day 2-4 with three RBI while Skammer was 2-5 with one RBI.
