Scranton, PA - Visiting Centenary College used a mix of solid pitching and timely hitting as the visiting Cyclones completed a regular season sweep of Marywood University with a pair of four-run wins Saturday afternoon in CSAC baseball action.  The Cyclones took the opener 8-4 and then topped the Pacers 6-2 in the nightcap on a cold afternoon in Scranton.  With the wins, Centenary improved to 16-14 overall and now stand alone in third place in conference standings at 7-5 while the Pacers fall to 11-17 and 6-6 in league play.

Centenary jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning in the opener and never looked back.  After a single and a pair of walks, Andrew Granozio doubled in two runs.  Granozio's double was followed by a two-run single from Sal Prestigiacomo.  Marywood got one back in the second on a David Lewis (Scranton, PA) sacrifice fly, but the visitors added two more in the fourth on a Jordan Wright two-run homer that landed just inside fair territory down the right-field line.  Marywood brought the game back to within three at 6-3 in he sixth on a two-run single from David Maione (Endwell, NY), but the Cyclones again responded with a two-run inning in the top of the seventh to end any threat of a Marywood comeback.

Shane Solimani (2-1) picked up the win on the mound for Centenary after going six innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven.  Mike Siciliano (2-2) took the loss for the Pacers after five innings of five-hit ball.  Siciliano struck out five and allowed five earned runs.  Maione led the Pacers by going 2-3 at the plate with two RBI while Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) was 2-4 and Jason Bugno (Clarks Summit, PA) had a double.  Wright finished the first game 2-3 with two runs batted in for Centenary while Prestigiacomo also had two RBIs in the opener.

With the score tied 1-1 after one inning of play in the nightcap, the visitors would scored an unearned run and add a sacrifice fly to take a 3-1 lead.  Marywood cut the lead to 3-2 in the third with a Lewis RBI double to center, but the Cyclones responded with three-run fourth, highlighted by a two-run single from shortstop Chris Smith.  From there, both Cyclone starter Matthew Devenny and Marywood hurler Jeff Cleary shut the door on the bats.

Devenny earned his second win of the year to improve to 2-4 after allowing just one earned run on seven hits.  Chris Smith was 1-3 with two RBI for Centenary while Lewis picked up the lone extra base hit of the nightcap with a double for Marywood.  Ryan Cusomato (Sparta, NJ) was 2-4 in the nightcap for Marywood.  Cleary allowed five earned runs on seven hits in falling to 2-3 on the year.

Marywood will look to snap their five game skid when they travel to Misericordia University for a non-conference game Monday afternoon.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm in Dallas.
