Scranton, PA - Marywood University's men's tennis team extended their winning streak to ten matches and in the process claimed the top seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs by finishing the regular season with an unblemished 7-0 mark thanks to a 8-1 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College Saturday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood, who has not lost since March 5, improved to 13-3 overall and will take on fourth-seeded Keystone College in the CSAC semifinals next Sunday.

GMC (5-4, 4-2 CSAC) got their lone points of the day with a 2-doubles win from Ryan Murray and Lou Vessels.  From there it was all Marywood as the 1-doubles team of Greg Chilson (Mountainside, NJ) and Evan Bolus (Clarks Summit, PA) improved to 6-0 in league play with an 8-2 win over Jared Morgan and Eric Trinkle.  The 3-doubles match was forfeited by Gwynedd so Marywood entered singles play up 2-1.  There, Marywood picked up two more forfeit wins at four and five singles and Chilson extended the Marywood lead to 5-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Vessels.

Bolus took a three set 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 win to finish with a perfect 7-0 CSAC record on the year while Todd Doran (South Windsor, CT) also improved to 7-0 in league play with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Trinkle.  Daniel Pfafman (Stratford, NJ) earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at four-singles.

Marywood and Neumann will meet at the Heathplex Tennis complex outside of Philadelphia next Sunday morning.  The winner will face either second-seeded Neumann University or third seeded GMC in Monday's (May 3) CSAC Championship match with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship tournament on the line.
