Box Score

Edwardsville, PA - Wilkes University broke a scoreless tie with a penalty kick just over a minute into the second half and that lone score held as the final as the Colonels edged Marywood 1-0 in the first ever game played on the new turf at Ralston Athletic Complex in Edwardsville.  Taryn Hallowell slotted Marywood keeper Meghan Coyle for the game's lone goal after Tashina Queen was taken down inside the box.

The scoreless first half saw a battle of two strong defenses as only three shots were allowed in the first half.  Not many more offensive chances were created in the second half, but Wilkes nearly doubled their lead but Coyle (Endicott, NY) stopped a point-blank deflection to keep the Pacers just one goal down.

Marywood pressed the final fifteen minutes and created several dangerous chances but were unable to find the back of the net.  Wilkes net-minder Samantha Rohn made three saves to preserve the shutout win.

In all, Wilkes out-shot the visitors 5-3 on the day but Marywood held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.  Coyle finished the night with four saves.

Marywood returns to action Saturday in Oneonta, New York when the Pacers participate in the Erinn K. Brozman Cup at Hartwick.  The Pacers will play host Hartwick at 1:00 pm on Saturday and then play Utica College at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
