Scranton, PA - Pre-season favorite Gwynedd-Mercy College won big at one and two doubles and one singles as the Griffins remained unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference action with an impressive 6-3 win over host Marywood University Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The Griffins move to 3-1 on the year and 3-0 in league play while Marywood was handed their second straight defeat and falls to 3-2 (1-2 CSAC).

Gwynedd's one and two doubles teams made quick work of their counterparts, scoring 8-2 and 8-1 wins respectively before Marywood could get a point with an 8-4 win at three-doubles from Erika Von Zup and Aubrey Klesh.

The Griffins then finished the match rather quickly, securing wins at one through four singles to get to six points. Rachel Fein was impressive with a 6-1, 6-1 over the Pacers' Ashley Karli (Blandon, PA) in the top singles flight while Jessica Scarpello was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Beth Schneider (Port Jervis, NY) in two-singles action. Chelsea Donde earned a three-set win at three-singles for GMC (7-5, 1-6, 6-2) over Melissa Hudock (Pitman, NJ), and Chelsea Jones picked up the final singles win for the Griffins at four-singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lindsay Burke (Yorktown, NY).

Von Zup (Tannersville, PA) won for Marywood at five-singles by a score of 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) over Heather Morgan, and Klesh (West Hazleton, PA) was a three-set winner (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) at six-singles over Cori Wessner.

Marywood returns to action next Saturday with a non-conference match at King's College. The match is set for a 11:00 am start at Kirby Park in Edwardsville.
