Scranton, PA - Marywood University scored twice in the second half to come back from an early deficit but Misericordia University, ranked sixth in Mid-Atlantic Region, answered with just over fifteen minutes to play as the Pacers and Cougars battled to a 2-2 double overtime tie Wednesday night in non-conference women's soccer action. The tie keeps Misericordia unbeaten at 4-0-1 while Marywood moves to 2-2-1.

Misericordia's Laura Rooney scored unassisted just over ten minutes into the game when she cut inside a defender and scored into the top corner from ten yards out. The score would remain 1-0 until the second half, thanks to several spectacular saves from Pacers' goalkeeper Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY).

At the 58:35 mark, Erin Jones (Vestal, NY) scored her first collegiate goal by tapping in a rebound after Lacy Habicht (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) ripped a direct kick from 20 yards out that Cougar keeper Morgan Myers could only deflect from going into the net. A crashing Jones easily one-timed the ball into an open net to tie the game at 1-1.

The Pacers would go up 2-1 just over three minutes later when Jessica Cosentino (Port Jefferson Station, NY) scored her first goal of the season with a one-time rip from 20-yards out to the far corner of the netting.

Misericordia would respond with a goal to tie the game at the 74:43 mark when Christine Wilhelm found Sam Helmstetter open on the far flank. Helmstetter calmly trapped the ball and slid a shot to the far post for the equalizer.

Misericordia hit the post with just over five minutes to play in regulation and did so again in overtime but could not find the game winner. An apparent goal was called back in the second overtime after a foul was called while Coyle was trying to collect a loose ball.

For the game, the two teams traded equal shots at 17 apiece. Marywood held a 9-2 advantage in corners. Myers collected five saves while Coyle picked up four in 110 minutes of action.

Misericordia plays Scranton Saturday for a 3:30 pm game while Marywood travels to Delaware Valley College for a 12:00 pm game.
