Lindsey Burke improved to 5-1 for Marywood with a 6-0, 6-2 win at five-singles against King's Women's Tennis Victorious Over King's Women's Tennis - 9/18/2010 5:27:39 PM Box Score Edwardsville, PA - After dropping two consecutive matches a week off seemed to do the trick as the Marywood women's tennis team rebounded with a 7-2 win over local non-conference rival King's College Saturday afternoon at Kirby Park in Edwardsville. Marywood snapped that two-match slide and improves to 4-2 on the year while the Monarchs drop their season opener. Marywood took two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches on the day to earn the road win. In doubles play, after Marywood lost at the top flight 8-4, Kara Hoff (Montoursville, PA) and Melissa Hudock (Pitman, NJ) responded with an 8-4 win of their own at 2-doubles. Marywood's team of Lindsey Burke (Yorktown, NY) and Beth Schneider (Port Jervis, NY) then blanked their opponents 8-0 at three-doubles to put Marywood up 2-1. After Ashley Karli (Blandon, PA) fell 6-2, 6-3 to Jillian Tallarico at one-singles, Marywood swept the remaining action to get seven points and the win. Caili Nizamis (Baldwinsville, NY) was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at two-singles while Hoff defeated Rachel Hoffnagle 6-2, 6-2. Schneider moved to 4-1 in singles action on the year witha 6-3, 6-2 win at four-singles, while Burke improved to 5-1 after soundly defeating Jennifer Bader 6-0, 6-2. Erika Von Zup (Tannersville, PA) finished the singles wins for Marywood, winning 6-2, 7-5 at six-singles.
