Langhorne, PA - Marywood University's Steven Bergmann scored twice and the Pacers secured a 2-0 win over host Philadelphia Biblical University Saturday afternoon to open the CSAC portion of their men's soccer slate.  The win moves Marywood to 6-3 (1-0 CSAC) while the Crimson Eagles fall to 2-6 (1-1 CSAC).  Ryan Jones and Christian Lawlor picked up the assists.

Bergmann, a sophomore from Mickleton, New Jersey, scored one goal in each half.  In the opening stanza, Jones (Holland, PA ) took an indirect kick and Bergmann beat the PBU keeper to the ball, took a quick touch and slipped it into an empty net with just over a minute remaining in the half.  Jones' assist was his team-leading fifth of the season and makes the sophomore Marywood's all-time leader in assists.

Despite controlling most of the play the entire game and holding a 31-7 advantage in shots, the Pacers had to settle for the 1-0 lead until Lawlor (Hillsdale, NJ) sent in a second-half cross from the right side which Bergmann headed it home in the 82nd minute.  The freshman now has three goals on the season.

Shane Quinn (Clarks Summit, PA) played all 90 minutes in goal to collect his fourth solo shutout and the team's fifth clean sheet of the season.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they host Centenary College in CSAC play at 7:00 pm.
