Scranton, PA - Lenny Martin had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Cabrini College missed two chances on tip-ins to tie the game as the host Pacers held on for a key 57-55 win over the visiting Cavaliers Monday evening at Marywood's Insalaco Arena.  Marywood snapped a two-game slide with the win to move to 6-4, 2-1 CSAC while the visitors were handed their first conference loss and now stand at 6-4, 3-1 CSAC.

Despite jumping out to a 3-0 lead on a Tyler Reinhard (Highlands, NJ) three, Marywood fell behind and would trail for much of the first half.  The Pacers, however, forced timely turnovers and cleaned up the boards on the defensive end to prevent the Cavaliers from gaining more than a six point advantage.  Another three by Reinhard would bring the Pacers to within two (19-17) with 8:58 in the opening stanza, and a layup by John Foreman (Sleepy Hollow, NY) would keep the visitors lead at two (22-20 ) with 6:47 to play.

Reinhard's third three of the first half got Marywood to within one at 4:20 and the Pacers would take their second lead of the game (26-24) with a three from Jacques Robinson (Athens, GA) moments later.  Tied at 31-31 after a Brent Keyes (Susquehanna, PA) three, an untimely turnover allowed Cabrini to race down the court and Dom Farrello would nail a three at the buzzer to give the Cavaliers a 34-31 lead going into the break.

Cabrini would go up by five early in the second half on a layup from Goran Dulac, but Marywood tied the game three minutes later on a free-throw from Foreman.  With the two teams trading leads over the next ten minutes, Cabrini would hold a three-point lead twice within the final five minutes.  Timely free throws by Keyes and Foreman would allow Marywood back to within one (55-54) with 2:16 to play, and Matt Lepri (Tannersville, PA) would put the Pacers up 56-55 on a layup with 1:08 to play.

On the insuing drive, Robinson would steal the ball and looked to ice the game for the Pacers, but an uncontested layup rattled off the rim to give the visitors another shot for the win.  Foreman would later nail one of two free throws to give Marywood a two-point lead.

With two seconds left, a Lepri foul sent Dulac to the line with a chance to tie.  Dulac missed the front end and after a time out, intentionally missed the second.  The Cavaliers got two clean looks at potential game-tying tip-ins off Dulac's miss, only to have both go off the backboard before the ball sailed out of bounds as time expired.

Martin (Wilkes-Barre, PA) led the Pacers with 12 points and 11 boards, tying for a game-high in points with Cabrini's Fran Rafferty and in rebounds with the Cavaliers' Dulac.  Lepri finished with 11 for the Pacers, as did Farrello for the visitors.

Marywood returns to action Thursday with a trip to Gwynedd Valley to take on Gwynedd-Mercy College at 7:00 pm.
