Immaculata, PA – Host Immaculata University held off Marywood University in a tightly played contest to earn a key, 60-56 win over the Pacers in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. Both teams now stand at 5-5 in CSAC play in a tie for fifth place, but the Mighty Macs, now 7-10 overall, also won in Scranton on January 17 to give them the edge when it comes down to seeding.

Trailing 22-10 with 5:22 left in the first half, Marywood (9-8) used a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to get back to within two, but the Mighty Macs closed out the half by out-scoring Marywood 5-2 to take a 27-22 lead into the locker room.

The hosts would stretch their lead back to 11 (40-29) just five minutes into the second half, but the Pacers chipped away at the Mighty Mac lead over the next ten minutes and would take their first lead of the second half when James Lavan nailed a three to put Marywood up 47-45. The two teams would trade the lead over the next several minutes before two costly Marywood turnovers gave the hosts the ball and forced the Pacers to put them on the free throw line.

Tied 51-51, Immaculata made five straight free throws to put the game out of reach and held on for the 60-56 win. Immaculata had a trio of players put up double-digit numbers as Nelson Torres and Darnell Malabet tied for a game-high with 16 points and Brandon Smith added 14. Tyler Reinhard led three Pacers in double-digits with a 14-point afternoon. Jacques Robinson and Brent Keyes added 11 points apiece.

Marywood returns to action Monday evening in the friendly confines of the Insalaco Arena when they host Neumann University at 7:00 pm. The Pacers are 6-1 on the year in the Insalaco Arena.
