Scranton, PA - Neumann University sank 25 of 29 free throw attempts and had five players contribute double figures in the scoring column as the visiting Knights handed host Marywood a 82-69 defeat Monday night at Marywood's Insalaco Arena. The Knights, who were led by Patrick O'Connor's 21 points, improved to 10-9 on the year and 7-5 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.  Marywood got a game-high 25 points from Jacques Robinson but fell to 9-9 (5-6 CSAC).  

Both teams traded leads early in the contest, but Marywood would go up 18-10 on a three-pointer from James Lavan wtih 12:37 to play in the opening frame.  The Knights would then chip away at the Marywood lead, eventually knotting the game at 20-20 with 8:08 left on a pair of free-throws by Mike Walukiewicz.  Neumann, who connected on 12 of 13 attempts from the charity stripe in the first half, eventually took a 31-28 lead on a three from Walukiewicz with 2:06 to play.  Steve Warhola then put the visitors up six at the break by nailing a 30-footer as time expired.

Marywood would get to within to two midway through the second half but would never reclaim the lead, as the Knights seemed to answer anytime Marywood started to make a run.  With a 55-52 lead in hand, the visitors started to break open the tight game by sinking 86.2% of their free throw attempts.  The Knights, who took 29 free throws to Marywood's 18 in the game, converted on 27 of their free chances to keep the Pacers at bay the rest of the way.

Neumann was led by O'Connor's 21-point effort.  O'Connor was 6 of 12 from the floor but a perfect 9-for-9 from the foul line.  Marquise Boggs (18 points), Walukiewicz (15 points), Mark Blount (10 points) and Rich Whitten (10 points) all reached double-digits for Neumann.

Marywood got a game-high 25 points from Robinson, who was 8-of-15 from the floor including four three-pointers.  John Foreman added 14 points and collected a game-high 9 boards.

Marywood returns to action Thursday at the Insalaco Arena when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College at 8:00 pm.
