Marywood Moves to 8-1 in CSAC Play, Blanks Immaculata 9-0

Immaculata, PA - Marywood University allowed just nine points in singles action and only two in doubles play as the visiting Pacers upped their CSAC record to 8-1 on the year with a 9-0 win over host Immaculata University Saturday afternoon.  The Pacers (9-2 overall) will host Neumann University Monday with the #2 seed in the upcoming playoffs on the line.

Marywood make quick work of doubles action, taking a 8-2 win at one-doubles by the team of Carly Leitzel and Melissa Hudock.  Marywood then won by a score of 8-0 at both two and three doubles.  At two-doubles, Kara Hoff and Megan Nastelli teammed for the win while Lindsay Burke adn Kristin Guba were victors at three-doubles.

Singles action went nearly as quickly, as Marywood allowed just nine points.  In the closest singles match, Hucock earned a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Pattie McGinley in the five-singles slot.  Leitzel was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at two-singles as was Nastelli at four-singles.  Both Hoff (one singles) and Guba (six singles) won by scores of 6-1, 6-0 while Burke won by the opposite score at three-singles, 6-0, 6-1. 

Should Marywood beat Neumann Monday, the Pacers will clinch the #2 seed for the upcoming CSAC four-team playoffs.  The Pacers and Knights will meet in Scranton at 3:30 pm.  Marywood can also clinch the two-seed with a Cabrini loss at Gwynedd-Mercy, being played today.
