Cabrini Edges Pacers in CSAC Semifinal, 5-4

Easton, PA - The third-seeded Cabrini College women's tennis team rallied to defeat second-seed Marywood University 5-4 at the Northwood Racquet & Fitness Club in Easton.  The Cavaliers (12-2) advance to face top seed Gwynedd-Mercy College in the CSAC Championship Saturday while Marywood finishes their season with a 10-3 mark.

The Cavaliers found themselves in a hole after dropping the first two doubles matches. At one-doubles, Marywood's Melissa Hudock and Carly Leitzel beat Cabrini's Katie Kennedy and Adriana Scotto, 8-5.  Megan Nastelli and Kara Hoff then beat Cabrini's Alexis DiCamillo and Samantha Trumbo at two-doubes by an identical score.

At number three doubles, Cabrini's duo of Michelle Lettman and Victoria Nastala came up big, defeating Marywood's Lindsay Burke and Beth Schneider 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 7-4. 

Kennedy started the charge at number one singles defeating Hoff 6-1, 6-1.  At number two singles, Marywood's Leitzel beat DiCamillo 6-2, 6-0, keeping Marywood ahead in the match, 3-2.  Lettmann remained unbeaten this season in singles play, defeating Burke 6-1, 6-2 at three singles.  At four-singles, Scotto downed Schneider 6-2, 6-3 to put the Cavaliers up 4-3. 

Megan Nastelli evened the match at 4-4 with a thrilling 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at five-singles over Cabrini's Trumbo.  Down to the last match, Cabrini's Nastala edged Hudock in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) to give the Cavaliers the win.

In the other semifinal, Gwynedd-Mercy College beat Baptist Bible College 5-0.
