Marywood easily defeated Hood Saturday, winning by over 70 points, 176.5-85.5 Marywood Rolls Past Hood, 176.5-85.5 Men's Swimming and Diving - 10/23/2011 5:00:00 PM Meet Results Scranton, PA – Marywood University evened their season record at 1-1 with a dominating performance Saturday as the Pacers downed visiting Hood College 176.5 to 85.5 Saturday afternoon at Marywood's Aquatics Center. In picking up their first win of the 2011-12 season, the Pacers won 12 of 14 events on the day, led by three individual wins from Tim Merli and two apiece from Andy Blevins, Chris Brown, Ryan Widenor, Anthony Pisano and Andy Blevins. The trio of Merli, Brown, Blevins and teammate Michael Stauffer put the Pacers on the right track by cruising to a win in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:44.27 to open the meet. After a strong performance from Hood's Jacob Wolfe in the 1000 yard freestyle, Marywood took control again as Blevins won the 200 yard freestyle in time of 1:53.91. Merli would then get his first individual win of the afternoon as he won the 100 yard backstroke in 55.78, beating Hood's Alex Bodine by nearly two seconds. Chris Brown would then beat Hood's Connor Eliff in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.51, besting Eliff by eight seconds. Widenor would then find himself a winner in the 50 yard butterfly (24.92), beating Bodine (25.02) and teammates Justin Verron (26.28) and James Weber (28.13). Anthony Pisano would then lead Marywood to another victory, finishing first in the 50 yard freestyle in time of 22.60. Bodine and Pisano would then tie in the 100 yard freestyle as both finished in 51.05. Merli would get another win in the 50 yard backstroke (26.09) and Chris Brown would win the 50 yard breaststoke in a time of 29.50. Marywood closed the meet with victories in the 500 yard freestyle (Blevins – 5:07.37) and 100 yard butterfly (Widenor – 56.50) as well as the 200 yard IM (Merli – 2:08.94) and the 200 yard freestyle relay (Pisano, Widenor, Alexander Martino, Verron – 1:34.52).
