Scranton, PA – Marywood University raced past visiting Hood College with a 157-102 win in women's swimming and diving action Sunday afternoon at Marywood's Aquatics Center.  The Pacers (1-3) picked up their first win of the season and were led by wins from Katie Paterson, Kristen Vitale and Catherine Anlas.
 
Hood won the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 2:00.81, under a second ahead of the Marywood's team who finished second.  Marywood's team of Anlas, Vitale, Olivia Hower and Paterson touched in 2:01.75.  Paterson would get quick revenge though, as she won the 1000 yard freestyle in easy fashion in a time of 11:20.23, besting Hood's Lindsay Cronin by over forty seconds. 
 
Marywood continued their winning ways with a victory from Vitale in the 200 yard freestyle. Vitale finished in 2:06.05, eight seconds ahead of Cronin.  Hower finished in third for Marywood in a time of 2:16.30, and Vanessa Szilagyi touched in 2:20.15 for fourth place.
 
Hood would get some points with a first and second place showing in the 100 yard backstroke where Marywood's Keri Bensley finished third in a time of 1:12.28.  The Blazers also took first and second in the 100 yard breaststroke where Marywood's Diana Young touched in 1:26.11 for a third place finish.
 
Paterson, Hower and Molly Hitesman would dominate the 50 yard butterfly for the Pacers, finishing first, second and third, respectively.  Anlas then won the 50 yard freestyle in 25:81.  Alyssa Desiderio (28.94) and Victoria Acampora (29.36) finished third and fourth in that event for Marywood.
 
Anlas would then win yet again in the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 57.82, and Katherine Ciszek (1:03.66) would come in third while Acampora (1:04.09) would finish fourth.  Hood's Theresa Schwarzwalder would win the 50 yard backstroke in a time of 30:59, but Marywood's Keri Bensley (33.85), Amy Mikolaichik (35.12) and Szilagyi (35:30) would finish second through fourth, respectively, to give Marywood a strong showing.
 
Young finished second in the 50 yard breaststroke for Marywood in a time of 38.76, edging teammates Sara Rigoliosi (39.10) and Desiderio (39.88).  Paterson would pick up another win in the 500 yard freestyle by touching in 5:30.95, besting Cronin by 21 seconds and Marywood would get another win from Vitale in the 100 yard butterfly as she touched in 1:04.91.  Vitale would pick up another victory in the 200 yard IM, finishing in 2:23.72.  Marywood's relay team of Anlas, Desiderio, Hitesman and Bensley would then win the 200 yard freestyle relay to end the meet.
 
Marywood returns to action October 29 when they host King's College at 1:00 pm.
