Scranton, PA – Visiting Misericordia University scored twice in the final 4:06 of Friday night's non-conference field hockey game to score a 2-0 win over host Marywood University.  The Cougars lift their record to 5-10 on the season with the victory while the Pacers end their 2011 campaign with a 3-12 mark.

On a cold evening under the lights at Marywood, neither team was able to break through in the first half with Misericordia holding a 7-2 advantage in shots for the period.  Marywood goalkeeper Jamie Bowman made six first half saves to keep the game scoreless while neither of the Pacers' shots was on target.

The story was similar over the first 31 minutes of the second half, but the Cougars finally broke through in the 66th minute of play when Hannah Harvey took a pass from Danika Watto and beat Bowman high to the far post to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

With Marywood pushing numbers forward looking for the equalizer, Misericordia was able to ice the win on a counterattack in the closing moments of the game.   A long pass sprung Katie Gabriele free on a breakaway, and Gabriele scored with just four seconds remaining after stickhandling past Bowman to close out the scoring.

Misericordia held a 15-3 advantage in shots for the game and had 16 penalty corners to one for Marywood.  Grace Riker was not forced to make a save in the Cougars' cage to earn the victory.

Bowman made 10 saves for Marywood while Briana Bacchetta made one defensive save in the loss.

Prior to Friday night's game, the Pacers honored seniors Julie Dougherty and Dana Sweeney, along with Bowman, as the three players made their final appearances in a Marywood uniform.
