Box Score
Allentown, PA – DeSales University got two second-half goals nearly three minutes apart to break open an otherwise tight game and the host Bulldogs ended Marywood's three-game winning streak with a 3-0 victory at home. DeSales, winners of six straight, improved to 9-2-1 on the year with the non-conference win while Marywood fell to 6-3.
The Bulldogs controlled the tempo early but the Marywood defense held the host in check and the visiting Pacers nearly went ahead midway through the opening half when Ryan Jones ripped a dipping shot form 25 yards out that DeSales' goalkeeper Colin Sulpizio had to dive to parry out of harms way.
The Bulldogs, however, would take a 1-0 lead in 35th minute when Zach Davis netted his second goal of the season on a feed from Derek Ross to put DeSales up 1-0. The score would remain that way for the remainder of the half as Jared El Gayeh kept the hosts off the board the rest of the frame.
The Bulldogs would double their lead just over five minutes into the second half ona Marywood own goal at the 50:13 mark. The hosts would then convert a penalty kick nearly three minutes later as Padraic Farrell scored his first goal of the year to put DeSales up 3-0.
In all, El Gayeh made two saves for the Pacers in nearly 68 minutes of action before being replaced by Austin Wright. Colin Sulpizio made one to earn the shutout for DeSales. The Bulldogs had a 15-6 advantage in shots and had six corners to Marywood's one.
Marywood returns to CSAC action Saturday when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College at 1:00 pm.
