Pacers Fall at Regionally-Ranked Kean

Union, NJ – Host Kean University, currently ranked seventh in the South Atlantic Region, scored three unanswered goal to notch a come-from-behind, 3-1 victory over Marywood University in non-conference women' s soccer action on Thursday evening.  The Cougars, winners of six-straight matches, improve to 9-2-1 on the season while the Pacers record stands at 4-7-1 following their final non-conference game this fall.
 
Marywood took a 1-0 lead at the 29:15 mark of the first half when Lacey Habicht converted a penalty kick for her second goal of the season.  Kean responded less than seven and a half minutes later with Shelby Wallace taking a feed from Teghan Pecherski and beating Pacer goalkeeper Dominique Kozuch to level the score at one apiece.
 
The score remained deadlocked through halftime and the first 20 minutes of the second half before the Cougars took their first lead of the game in the 67th minute when Danielle Esposito headed in a serve from Jaclyn Janicky following a corner kick.  The hosts doubled their lead just under four minutes later with Shelby Petersen finding the back of the net off an Amanda Repko assist to close out the scoring.
 
Kean held a 12-8 edge in shots for the game while Marywood held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks on the evening.
 
Kaitlin King earned the win in the Cougars' goal after making four saves while Kozuch also finished the evening with four stops for the Pacers.
 
Marywood returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Baltimore, MD to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
