Box Score

Baltimore, MD - Marywood University out-shot host Notre Dame of Maryland University 30-4 Saturday but it was the Pacers who needed three late goals to defeat the Gators as the Pacers starved off an upset with a 3-1 win Saturday afternoon in Baltimore.  Marywood trailed 1-0 with less than 10 minutes left but scored three times in the games' final seven minutes to improve to 4-1-1 in CSAC action (5-7-1 overall).  Notre Dame fell to 5-5 overall (3-3 CSAC) with the loss.

Despite dominating much of the game, the Pacers could not find the back of the net.  Marywood held a commanding 14-3 shot lead at the break but Heather Lancellotti kept the game scoreless with 13 first half saves for the hosts.  Lancellotti would pick up 13 more saves on 16 Marywood second half shots for a game-high 26 stops.

The upset-minded Gators got on the board with a goal from Susan Schruefer after a nice combination play with Ashley Cumberland.  The goal was scored in the 62nd minute and the Gators would continually keep the Pacers off the board for 21 more minutes.

Marywood finally broke through in the 84th minute when Shannon Stoll scored unassisted with an 18-yard rip that dipped over Lancellotti into the back of the net.  From there, Marywood remained in control, scoring again just over three minutes later when Olivia Habicht used the inside of her foot to beat Lancellotti off a feed from Siobhan Blancaflor.  Habicht would then add the Pacers' third goal with :45 left on a direct kick just outside the 18-yard box, ripping a shot past the Gator wall and into the near-post netting.

Dominique Kozuch picked up the first win of her collegiate career in goal after making two stops for the Pacers.  Marywood returns to action Tuesday when they host Baptist Bible College at 7:00 pm.  That game will be broadcast on live regional television as WQMY MyNetwork TV, in conjuction with Fox 56 sports, will air the broadcast.  Marywood alumnus Bob Ide (The Great Outdoors) will call the game and former Pacer Andrea Barker will join the broadcast team.
