Scranton, PA – Marywood University defeated previously unbeaten Cabrini College 5-4 to earn a key conference win in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon in Scranton.  The Pacers lift their record to 7-1 on the season including a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play while the Cavaliers fall to 11-1 on the fall and 8-1 in the CSAC after their first setback.

Cabrini held a 2-1 lead after doubles play.  Katie Kennedy and Adrianna Scotto defeated Marywood's Carly Leitzel and Melissa Hudock 8-1 at #1 doubles while Megan Nastelli and Kara Hoff were 8-4 winners at #2 doubles.  The Cavaliers had the advantage after doubles as Michelle Lettmann and Victoria Nastala scored an 8-4 win over Beth Schneider and Lindsay Burke at #3 doubles.

Marywood was able to win the match by claiming four of the six singles matches.  Leitzel defeated DiCamillo 6-2, 6-2 at #2.  Schneider topped Scotto 6-2, 6-3 in the #4 flight and Nastelli bested Trumbo 6-3, 6-0 at number five.  Huddock won over Nastala 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 at flight #6 to give Marywood the decisive fifth point of the day.

Kennedy defeated Hoff 6-2, 6-1 at #1 and Lettmann topped Burke 6-0, 6-3 at #3 to account for the Cavaliers wins in singles play.

Marywood has little time to enjoy Saturday's victory as the Pacers visit defending conference champion Gwynedd-Mercy College for a CSAC match scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
