Marywood Tops PBU in Four to Advance to CSAC Semifinals

Scranton, PA – Marywood University avenged a regular season loss to Philadelphia Biblical University in Tuesday evening's first round match of the Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball playoffs with a 3-1 victory to advance to the conference semifinals.  The Pacers improve to 17-10 on the year and will visit second-seed Neumann University in a conference semifinal on Thursday evening.
 
Marywood won the first game of Tuesday night's match 25-23 before the Crimson Eagles, now 19-14 on the season, leveled the contest at one-apiece with a 25-18 decision in the second set.  The Pacers rebounded with a 25-19 win in game three before closing out the match with a 25-16 triumph in the fourth frame. 
 
Three Marywood players recorded double-digit kills to lead the Pacers attack.  Emily Fillman finished the evening with 12 kills to lead the team while Erica Krakosky and Ashley Zalewski added 10 apiece. 
 
Alyssa Hartranft had an outstanding night for the Pacers, leading all players with 44 assists while contributing five service aces and nine digs.  Rachel Tollett paced the squad with 16 digs while adding three aces of her own.
 
Kim Lope collected nine kills in the victory while recording three solo blocks and assisting on two others.
 
Marywood's semifinal match-up at Neumann is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Aston, PA.  The Knights defeated the Pacers 3-1 on September 16th in the regular season meeting between the two sides.
