Annville, PA – Lebanon Valley College opened the 2011 women's basketball season with a 60-45 victory over Marywood University in non-conference action on Tuesday night.  The Flying Dutchmen, ranked ninth in the country, had three players finish in double-figures while the Pacers were led by freshman Morgann Haduck's 13 points in her collegiate debut.
 
Lebanon Valley outscored Marywood 13-2 over the first 7:21of Tuesday night's contest and would hold a 30-19 halftime lead after shooting 58 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play while limiting Maywood to just 19 percent from the floor.  Tierney Heltz led the Flying Dutchmen with nine points while Kiely Chaklos netted six points in the half.  Jillian Flanagan led the Pacers with six points in the first half while Haduck contributed five points.  Both teams had 20 rebounds in the period.
 
Lebanon Valley scored the first six points of the second half and Marywood was unable to cut their deficit to single digits as the Flying Dutchmen emerged victorious in the season opener for both teams.
 
Heltz and Caitlin Murphy finished tied for a game-high with 14 points apiece for Lebanon Valley, who finished the evening shooting 51.1 percent from the field, 25 percent from the free throw line, and 75 percent from three-point range.  Chaklos was the third Flying Dutchmen in double-figures with 10 points.
 
Haduck's 13 points paced Marywood while Flanagan and Carly Leitzel finished with seven points apiece in the defeat.  Marielle Thorsen grabbed a game-high seven rebounds for the Pacers while adding four steals and Ashley Murray led the squad with three assists in her first collegiate game.  Allison Bruet also added four steals for the visitors. 

Marywood finished the night shooting 19.7 percent from the floor, 12.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 72.7 percent from the charity stripe.
 
The Pacers will look to break into the win column on Thursday evening when they play host to Penn State Hazleton in a non-conference tilt slated to tipoff at 7:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
