Scranton, PA - A mid-second half rally that got Marywood back to within three fell short as the visiting Keystone College Giants pulled away down the stretch to earn a 91-77 win over the Pacers in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action Monday evening at Marywood's Insalaco Arena.  Keystone improved to 3-1 (1-0 CSAC) on the year while Marywood slipped to 2-3 (1-1 CSAC).

Keystone would build an early 10-point lead over the first 7:12 of the game as Malcolm Boone slammed home the Giant's fourth dunk during that time span.  The Pacers would chip away at that lead and find themselves down just three (23-20) with 8:58 left as Kirk Fallon nailed a jumper.  Yet, with less than 1:30 to play in the opening stanza, the Giants were back up 10 and eventually stretched their lead to 17 at the break (50-33) as Tim Benedix nailed a controversial half-court three as time expired.

Down by 19 after Keystone opened the second half on a bucket, the Pacers methodically chipped their way back into the game.  Marywood cut the lead to single digits (52-43) on a layup by Pierre Bakinde, but Keystone quickly went on a 8-2 run to go back up 15, 60-45, with 11:51 left.

From there, the Pacers used a 12-0 run over the next three minutes and found themselves down just three, 60-57, with 8:43 left after Bakinde nailed a couple from the charity stripe.  The Giants quickly regrouped, however, and put the game out of reach with a quick two-minute long 11-2 run that put them back up 12.  The Pacers could only cut that lead to single digits one more time before the Giants sealed the win.

Kenneth Hardnett led five Giants in double-figures with a game-high 24 points.  Hardnett completed the double-double with a game-high 14 boards.  Mike Kelly had 19 while Boon (17), Dan Candemeres (16) and  Benedix (12) all reached double-digits.  Marywood was led by Bakinde's double-double.  Bakinde had 23 points on the night on nine of 17 shooting from the floor.  He added 10 rebounds. Matt Lepri had 17.

For the game, Keystone had 48 points in the paint to Marywood's 30 and the Giants hit 55.9% of their shots from the floor.  After going 19 of 33 (57.6%) in the opening half, Keystone remained hot and went 14 of 26 (53.8%) from the floor in the second stanza.  Keystone was also 7 of 19 from three-point land while limiting Marywood to a 5 of 18 effort from long-range.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they travel to nearby Clarks Summit to take on Baptist Bible College at 8:00 pm.
