Scranton, PA – Shane Quinn's first goal of the season as time expired in the first half of Thursday night's Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer semifinal proved to be the game-winner as Marywood University defeated visiting Rosemont College 3-1.  The Pacers, now 13-4 on the season, advance to their second-straight CSAC Final where they will face Neumann University in a rematch of last fall's championship match.

After several dangerous chances early minutes, Marywood took a 1-0 lead just 3:53 in Thursday night's contest.  CSAC Co-Player of the Year Ryan Jones played a long restart into Rosemont's penalty area where it eventually found its way to Quinn, who played a ball across the box that Christian Lawlor flicked thru to Richard Fifi, who netted his third goal of the season.

Despite the fast start, the Pacers could not hold the momentum as the Ravens were able to take advantage of one of a number of dangerous restarts in the middle part of the field.  In the 27th minute of play, the Ravens played a long serve into the Pacers' 18-yard box that deflected off a Marywood player and into the net for an own goal which knotted the score at 1-1.

The game appeared to be headed to halftime deadlocked until Marywood was awarded a free kick at midfield in the final 20 seconds of the half.  Jones again laced a dangerous ball into the Ravens' area that banged off of a couple of players and found the foot of Quinn, who ripped a sensational left-footed strike into the upper-90 far side netting as time expired for his first goal of the season.

Marywood was able to build a two-goal cushion at the 62:01 mark of the second half as Kris Kassel found the back of the net with a beautiful left-footed shot of his own.  The freshman midfielder fired a shot the beat Rosemont goalkeeper Nick Hulayew over the top and fell just inside the far post for Kassel's fifth goal of the season.

Over the final 28 minutes, Marywood defense led by Jones, Quinn, Bert Meekins, and Jonathan Rottkamp, along with substitute Jamie Mangini, kept the Ravens at bay while goalkeeper Jared El Gayeh finished the night with seven saves to earn his 13th win of the season.

Hulayew made three stops on the evening for Rosemont, who finishes their season with a 10-7-2 record.

Marywood will travel to Aston, PA on Saturday to take on Neumann, a 1-0 double-overtime winner over Gwynedd-Mercy College in Thursday's other semifinal.  Game time is yet to be determined.
