Marywood Dominates in 181-95 Win

Cazenovia, NY – Marywood University dominated from the start, winning the first eleven events and eventually 13 of 16 on the evening, as the Pacers cruised to a 181-95 win over host Cazenovia College Wednesday evening in New York.  Marywood, now 4-5 on the year, won all but one swimming race and got a victory in one of three diving events as part of the win.

The Pacers 200 medley relay team of Catherine Anlas, Kristen Vitale, Katie Paterson and Chelsea Karabin got Marywood off to the right start, winning their opening race in a time of 2:03.09.  Vanessa Szilagyi won the 1000 freestyle in 12:33.77 and Paterson won the 200 free in 2:09.73.  Anlas earned a victory in the 100 backstroke (1:07.06) while Vitale won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:16.28. 

Olivia Hower's victory in the 200 butterfly (2:44.16) extended the Pacers' lead over the Wildcats and Karabin won the 50 free in 27.74 before Cazenovia's Danielle Fredenburg won the 1-meter diving event to snap the Pacers' win streak. 

Anlas got Marywood back on track with a win in the 100 free (59.63) and Keri Bensley won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:36.29 for the Pacers.  Vitale won the 200 breaststroke in 2:45.47 before Szilagyi dominated the 500 free, touching in 6:07.69 to win the event by nearly two minutes.

Marywood closed out the win as Vitale won the 100 butterfly (1:06.62) while Heather Wimmer won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 80.30. 

Marywood hosts the University of Scranton Sunday at 1:00 pm in the Pacers' second Landmark Conference meet of the season.
