Marywood Set to Host Inaugural PNC Cross County Challenge

Scranton, PA - Marywood University will be the host institution of the inaugural "PNC Cross County Challenge" January 2-3, 2012.  The men's basketball tournament will feature Marywood, the University of Scranton, King's College and Wilkes University competing in the pre-set classic.  All games will be played at Marywood's Insalaco Arena.

On January 2, the tournament will open at 6:00 pm when the University of Scranton takes on Wilkes University.  That game will be followed by the Marywood-King's game at 8:00 pm.  On January 3, Marywood will play Wilkes at 6:00 pm while the Royals and Monarchs will face-off at 8:00 pm.  Since King's and Wilkes are both members of the Freedom Conference, they will not face one another.

Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the game.  Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for senior citizens, children under the age of 10 and students from King's, Scranton and Wilkes with a valid college ID.  Marywood students, faculty and staff may attend the games free of charge by presenting a valid Marywood University ID. 

On Tuesday, January 3, both games will be available live on local television thanks to WQMY MyNetwork TV.  The games will be televised on Comcast channel 11 (Scranton area), Service Electric channel 4 (Wilkes-Barre area), Direct TV HD or DishNetwork channel 53 or over the air on channel 53.1.  The broadcast will also be simulcast live on MyFoxNEPA.com
