Scranton, PA – Ashley Murray and Allison Bruet scored 16 points apiece to lead Marywood University to an 85-41 victory over Cedar Crest College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon.  The Pacers improve to 5-2 overall on the season and 2-0 in conference play with the win while remaining a perfect 5-0 on their home court.
 
With the score tied at 4-4 in the opening minutes of Saturday's contest, Marywood went on an 11-1 run to hold a 15-5 advantage with 15:09 to play in the opening half after Murray hit a three-pointer.  The Pacers would use a 9-0 spurt midway through the period to extend their lead to 36-16, and the hosts held a 46-21 halftime lead as Marielle Thorsen hit a jumper at the buzzer.
 
Murray led all players with 14 points in the first half as the freshman connected on six of eight field goal attempts in the period.  Bruet added eight points in the period while Thorsen led the squad with five rebounds as the Pacers shot 48.7 percent from the field in the first half and forced the Cedar Crest to turn the ball over 15 times in the opening 20 minutes of play.
 
The Falcons, who shot 23.1 percent from the floor in the first half, were paced by Mattie Hallquist's seven points in the period.
 
Marywood opened the second half with a 7-2 run to put themselves up by 30 points and the Pacers lead grew the rest of the half as the team shot 47.1 percent from the field while holding the Falcons to nine field goals in the second half.
 
Murray finished with 16 points after connecting on seven of 10 field goal attempts while Bruet also netted 16 points after going six of eight from the floor and converting all four of her free throw attempts.  Bruet also led the Pacers with three steals.  Marywood finished the afternoon connecting on 47.9 percent of their shots from the floor, 27.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line. 
 
Thorsen finished with a team-high eight rebounds as Marywood held a 44-39 advantage on the glass.  Maggie Presnal added seven rebounds and scored nine points for the Pacers while Morgann Haduck dished out a team-leading three assists.
 
Cedar Crest, now 1-5 on the season (0-3 CSAC) shot 29.4 percent from the floor for the game and hit on just three of 16 three point attempts.  Hallquist led the Falcons with 11 points while adding a game-high nine rebounds.  Denyell Spingola led all players with six assists in the loss. 
 
Marywood returns to action on Tuesday when they visit Centenary College for a key, early season CSAC North match-up slated to tipoff at 6:00 p.m. in Hackettstown, NJ.
