Arlington, VA – Marywood University freshman Diana D'Achille scored six goals, including the eventual game-winner, to lead the Pacers to a hard-fought, 12-10 victory over Marymount University in the first game of the season for both teams on Saturday evening. Taylor McKeown also scored three goals for Marywood, who won their second-straight season-opener.

Lindsay Quinn scored the first goal of the game just over four minutes into the game to give the Saints the early lead, but back-to-back, free position goals from freshman Kimberly Commisso put Marywood in front, 2-1. Stephanie Flood leveled the score by taking advantage of a free-position opportunity of her own with 16:33 to play in the first half before Marywood junior put the Pacers back in front with her first goal of the season at the 12:22 mark. D'Achille doubled the Marywood lead with her first collegiate goal with 9:56 left in the period.

Flood and Kimberly Dean separated by just 31 seconds brought Marymount back level and McKeown and Dean traded tallies down the stretch to make the score 5-5 at halftime.

Quinn and D'Achille each scored goals within the first minutes of the second half before the Saints reclaimed the lead when Chelsea Ritter scored with 26:13 to play. The hosts' lead would last less than a minute and a half as McKeown retied the score with an unassisted goal and D'Achille followed with back-to-back goals to put Marywood back in front for good at 9-7 with 19:31 to play.

Senior midfielder Allie Sodl stretched the Pacers' lead to 10-7 with an unassisted marker with 16:35 left on the clock, but back-to-back goals by Flood and Dean brought the hosts back to within a single goal with 12:01 left.

D'Achille restored Marywood's two-goal cushion with 10:33 play, but Quinn brought Marymount back within one at the 9:40 mark, but D'Achille's sixth goal of the game with 7:11 remaining closed out the scoring.

Marywood held a 33-27 advantage in shots for the game and a 26-22 edge in groundballs, led by Commisso, who collected a game-high 10 groundballs while adding seven draw controls to go along with her two-goal performance. Marymount won 17 of the game's 24 draws.

Freshman Leigha Dolcemascolo made three saves while playing the first half in the Pacers' cage while classmate Megan Planz earned the win after making six stops in the second half. Lourdes Lanzas made 15 saves in a losing effort for the Saints.

Marywood returns to the field on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. to face Division I Howard University in a game scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
