Scranton, PA – Visiting Baptist Bible College used a 13-0 run over a span of more than seven minutes in the second half and held off a late rally attempt by Marywood University on their way to a 58-57 win in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Monday evening. The Defenders improve to 12-9 on the season with the victory and 7-5 in conference play while the loss drops the Pacers' record to 16-6 overall and 10-3 in the CSAC.

With Monday night's game tied at 4-4 in the early stages, Marywood went on a 12-1 run to hold a 16-5 lead with 13:29 to play in the first half when Lauren Rogan buried a three-pointer. Baptist Bible fought their way back and tied the score at 27-apiece with 3:22 left in the period on a lay-up by Kacee Rava.  Krissi Thomopoulos put the Pacers back in front with a pair of free throws at the 1:40 mark and Marywood would hold a 31-29 halftime lead as Allison Bruet and the Defenders' Jessica White both hit a pair of free throws down the stretch.

Bruet's 10 first half points led Marywood while Rava had 13 points for Baptist Bible in the opening 20 minutes of play.

The Defenders tied the score 2:11 into the second half on a Kelly Bargfeldt jumper, but Mariah Schaeffer again put Marywood back in front with a lay-in and the Pacers would hold the lead over the first 10 minutes of the second half. Trailing 45-41 with 10:40 to play, Baptist Bible embarked on a 13-0 run over the next 7:12 to take a 54-49 lead with 2:08 to play.

Down seven points with 25 seconds to play, Marywood got a three-pointer from Rogan to cut their deficit to 58-54 and after a pair of missed free throws by the White, Marielle Thorsen brought the Pacers to within a single point by draining a long-range three with 17 seconds left. Another quick foul sent White to the line, but again both shots rimmed out giving Marywood a shot at the win, but Brittany Mang's lay-up attempt at the buzzer would not fall as the Defenders avenged a 71-58 defeat suffered to the Pacers on January 24th.

Rava led all scorers and rebounders on the night with 18 points and 17 rebounds. White also finished with a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds while Bargfeldt was the third Defender in double-digits with 10 points. Baptist Bible shot 40.8 percent from the floor for the game, 25 percent from three-point range, and 55.2 percent from the free throw line.

Marywood was led by Bruet's 16 points while Schaeffer added 10 points in the loss. Marywood shot just 27.1 percent from the field, 25 percent from beyond the arc, and 52 percent from the charity stripe. Alysa Mayo led Marywood with eight rebounds.

The Pacers return to action on Thursday night when they host another local rival, Keystone College, in a CSAC game scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena. The contest will be a WBCA Pink Zone game in which t-shirts will be sold and donations collected with the proceeds going to support the fight against breast cancer.
