Box Score

Clearmont, FL - Alma College scored nine runs over the first three innings of play and forced a shortened game as the Scots improved to 4-1 on the year with a 9-1 win over Marywood.  Alma (Michigan) got a strong pitching performance from Louise Rezner, who allowed just three hits while handing the Pacers their third straight loss to open the season.

Alma, whose only blemish on the  year is a one-run set-back to #4 Messiah College, took advantage of several timely hits and some free passes from Marywood pitcher Talia Williams to break the game open.  Rezner, meanwhile, was strong, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven Marywood batters in the game.  Williams (0-1) took the loss for Marywood after allowing nine runs on four hits and nine walks.

Marywood's lone run of the game came in the top half of the third, when Kim Lope singled to start the inning and stole second.  Lope then moved to third when Meghin Palmer singled on a bunt, and would score on a throwing error as the Scots tried to make a play at first on Palmer.  Lope, Palmer and Diana Butash all went 1-3 for Marywood.  Jaclyn Parsons pitched the final 1 1/3 inning for Marywood and allowed just one hit.

Marywood has no time to rest as the Pacers are back on the field at 6:00 pm to face the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Indiana).
