Radnor, PA – Cabrini College jumped out to an early lead and held off a late Marywood rally in a 7-5 opening game win before the Pacers blasted four home runs, including two from Kaitlyn Brennan, as the visitors took the nightcap 10-4 to earn a split Friday afternoon. Marywood moved to 5-7 on the year and is now 1-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action while the Cavaliers stand at 2-8 (1-1 CSAC).

Cabrini jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning of the opening game thanks to a fielder's choice RBI and a groundout RBI, but Marywood cut the host's lead in half in the top of the third when Kim Lope homered to left field for her first long-ball of the year. Cabrini went up 3-1 in the fourth and Marywood responded with a run of their own in the sixth before the hosts tacked on four runs in the sixth to take a 7-2 lead.

Alexandra Stine tried to get the Pacers back in the game in the seventh with a two-run homer, but Marywood fell short in their comeback effort as they could only generate three runs in the top half of the inning. Lope finished the opener 3 of 4 from the plate with a double, homer and two RBI. Stine was 2 of 4 with two RBI and Jillian Flanagan was 2 of 3. Kaitlyn Jones fell to 3-2 on the mound on the year after allowing six earned runs on ten Cabrini hits over six full innings.

Marywood used the long-ball to take control of the nightcap, blasting four homers in the game including two from Kaitlyn Brennan. The Pacers went up 4-0 in the top of the third when Meghin Palmer singled to score two runs and Brennan brought her home with the first of her two dingers on the day.

After Cabrini cut the Marywood lead in half in the fourth, Marywood plated two more runs in the fifth on Brennan's second two-run homer of the game. The Pacers then added four more in the sixth to put the game out of reach as Jillian Flanagan and Shawna Sandy connected on back-to-back home runs to extend the Marywood lead.

Brennan also picked up her first win on the mound to move to 1-2 on the year after striking out three in a complete-game effort.

Marywood returns to action next Friday as the Pacers travel to nearby LaPlume to take on Keystone College in a doubleheader at 3:00 pm.
