Port Charlotte, FL – Marywood University's men's baseball team swept their second-straight doubleheader to improve to 4-0 after taking a pair from John Jay College on Tuesday. In the opener, the Pacers scored a program record 28 runs, led by Joseph Valvano's school-record tying seven RBI's, to claim a 28-8 win over the Bloodhounds before scoring a 5-1 victory in the nightcap. Pitchers Mike Siciliano
and Ryan Pelle each tossed complete games to earn their first wins of the season.

In Tuesday's opener, Valvano had a huge game at the plate to lead the Pacers, going 3-4 including two doubles while driving in seven runs which ties the program record set by Mike Piercy in 2004. The senior also scored three runs and every Marywood starter recorded at least one hit and one RBI as the Pacers shattered the school record for runs in a game that had stood since 1997.

Jared Yanniello went 3-5 with 4 RBI's and two runs scored while Steve Wade was 2-5 at the plate with 2 RBI's and scored three runs.

Siciliano (1-0) went the distance for the Pacers, scattering seven hits while striking out five John Jay batters, who scored all off their runs in the third inning.

In the nightcap, Pelle (1-0) matched Siciliano's complete game effort, also scattering seven hits without allowing a walk to shutdown the Bloodhounds' offense.

Marywood, who scored a pair of runs in the first inning and added three more in third, got two hits apiece from Joe Diskin, Yanniello, and Mike Diskin to complete the sweep and improve to 4-0.

Marywood returns to Fort Pierce this afternoon to take on Ferrum College for a single game scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
